New Update makes catching Pokemon harder

As I'm sure many of you are aware the recent update makes catching Pokemon much harder, in fact I've been testing this and to catch 5 Pokemon I am using anything between 10-25 balls.

The only easy solution is higher level pokemon feed them razz berries or don't bother catching them.  Of course if you don't catch them you lose out on the candy, so its a decision you have to make at the time.

All pokemon trackers are also down after the recent update.

Catching high level CP Pokemon

As I'm sure many of you are aware, when you see a high level Pokemon with a decent CP it's very difficult to catch, you can waste lots of Poke balls on them and still not catch them.

The key here is to feed them with a Razz Berry from your backpack then use a Poke Ball.

Don't use your normal Poke Balls, use one of your special Poke Balls this gives you more chance of catching that difficult Pokemon.

Use either Great balls or Ultra balls.  You need to be level 12 in order to get the higher level balls though.  So level up your character as well.

Save data by using Offline Maps

Pokémon Go pulls map data from Google, and if you download your home and work areas on your phone via the Google Maps app it will improve the performance of Pokémon Go. You phone won't have to keep constantly redrawing your surroundings.
Open up the Google Maps app, select the Settings menu (shown by an icon with three horizontal lines) and tap on 'Offline areas'.
Press the '+' icon then use the map to drawn a square of the area you want to download, then tap on 'Download'.  Google maps will normally show your home area which will generally cover a few towns near you, or a large section of the city you live in, press the + by home and it will download it.
This will mean you won't burn through your mobile data allowance quite so quickly, and it can help save your smartphone battery as well while you play Pokémon Go.  You need to update offline maps every month though, but that's done automatically and saves you data anyway.

How to find Rare Pokemon

Well everyone has different ideas of how to find rare Pokemon, there is no hard and simple way of doing this.  There is a website that does show you all Pokemon in your area though.  I feel this is a bit of a cheat personally but I know lots of you love using it.
Just enter your location or street address and it will show you everything local

How to Hatch Eggs

Much like any other Pokémon game, hatching Eggs for new Pokémon is still a thing - only this time you need to monitor said Egg.

Hatching rates are based on how many miles or kilometres you've walked with the app open - and until the special Pokémon Go wearable is released over here this is the only way to rack up that mileage. You'll need to make sure you put the egg in an incubator so that it registers your miles as you walk.

To check the progress of your Poké ovum, tap the Pokéball, then select the Eggs menu from the list. The Pokémon that's born out of each egg is also randomised, so don't get too disappointed if you get any doubles.
There are ways to speed up this process with people strapping a phone to your dog, not sure if that is really a good idea.  Or next time your friend is out cycling give them your phone.  Obviously you need to change your screen time out to a higher one so it doesn't close down.
Personally I don't see the point of cheating at the walking to hatch eggs, after all its a good way to keep healthy and get out in the fresh air.

Don't forget to visit Pokestops

PokéStops are Pokémon Go's way of turning special landmarks in your town or city into interactive events. Visiting these special points of interest will drop random loot, including Eggs for hatching new Pokémon, Pokéballs for catching new ones and Potions or Revives for healing your Pokémon while in Combat mode.
Be sure to visit these PokéStops everyday if in the same area, or open the app in new areas to reap the rewards of travel. To use one, walk up close to it, tap the blue icon then swipe it to make it spin. All your randomised loot will then appear.

Make sure you catch duplicate Pokemon to advance quicker

Some people only catch one of each type of Pokemon, you are actually losing out on a lot of extra help.  You get three candys for each one you catch.

Extra Pokémon can be traded to Professor Willow for candy, which helps increase the stats of your best Pokémon and even helps them evolve. To do this, click the Pokéball icon, select 'Pokémon' and hit 'Transfer' by the Pokémon you want to drop.

Capturing the Pokemon

When you do decide to throw down with a wild Pokémon, capturing the critter isn't always that easy.
Focus your camera on the Pokémon in question and the white ring you use as a pointer will change size and colour - the smaller the ring, the more likely you'll be to capture the Pokémon.
Before you throw a Pokéball, check the colour the ring changes to - green equals easy, yellow equals moderate and red equals tough. Know these colours and you'll be on your way to mastering Pokémon Go.

Walk through those rustling leaves.

When you start to play the game you will often notice rustling leaves, for the most part people just pay no attention to them, but in fact the rustling leaves are where there are pokemon hiding, so walk through one of the patches of rustling leaves and pokemon is bound to appear.

Different areas house different pokemon so vary your location.  But remember when you see the rustling leaves make sure your characters circle touches them to gain a pokemon.

Getting Pikachu at the start

It seems everyone wants Pikachu at the start, which is understandable it is the classic pokemon the one we all know.  There is actually a simple way to get him at the start.  When you first start the game you get offered three pokemon, ignore them, walk away.  In fact you may have to just keep walking away everytime they appear and eventually you will get offered pikachu.  Sometimes Pikachu appears quickly overtimes you may have to walk away a few times, but it works.
